Maker of the Turner Sling!
Same Family: New Generation
I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself, my name is Matt Davis and as of May 2023, I am the new owner of Turner Saddlery. I am Richard Turner’s nephew and I have the honor of being the company’s first employee starting way back in 1991. I started working alongside my uncle when I was in the 5th grade (I walked to the shop from school), I literally grew up in the shop, so I am very familiar with the slings and the total quality that is expected and deserved from you, our customer! After almost 40 years of making the “Turner Sling”, my uncle has finally decided to retire. I didn’t want to see someone buy his company and not continue producing the quality products that he has worked so hard to offer all these years, so here we are. Even though I wasn’t at the helm so to speak, I would like to apologize for delays throughout the last few years. *These were out of my uncle’s control due to situations like COVID, supply chain issues, raw material shortages, etc., but that is all in the past. I have been fortunate enough, after moving the company from Alabama to North Carolina in June, to eliminate most of the supply chain issues that have impeded shipping. I have also added 10 new employees and we are currently training and working to produce the high-quality products we are known for. It’s still my family name that goes on everything we make and sell and I take pride in that.I have secured 5 years’ worth of the materials needed to produce our slings in an effort to prevent future delays due to supply chain breakdowns. The changes will not be overnight, I am working 15-hour days 6 days a week to fulfill a substantial backlog of outstanding orders stretching back the last 4 years. I hope some of you have noticed the increased production we have already achieved in the last few weeks. Orders are being filled as fast as I can physically get leather cut and as the new supplies arrive. Our slings are still cut by hand one at a time and are truly “handmade.” We are working hard to have our products on the shelf and ready to ship the next day by the end of the year. We are also working with suppliers to be able to bring back some of our more popular products like the M1907’s, Cheek pads, and the Black leather slings. If you currently have an order in-house, those orders will still be honored at the price promised when the order was placed. There may be a slight difference in the total of the order and this is due to the taxes we are required to collect in NC. If you have an order in-house, I will send you an invoice by email with a direct link to pay once we have the order packed and ready for shipment. None of the orders taken previously were charged, we have never taken payment for an order until it was completed. In order to maintain the safety of our customers no credit card information was transferred with the sale of the business, so I am unable to process payments without sending out the invoices, I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I want to thank you for your patience as they have navigated through the last few years and I look forward to rebuilding your trust in our products for years to come. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me, our number hasn’t changed, 205-680-9377 and I will be more than happy to talk to you. If any of the shipping information on your order has changed, please advise me so I can get that corrected in our system before we ship. Lastly, I know that a lot of you have been waiting a really long time to have your order completed. I promise that it is equally frustrating for me. If you want to cancel or change your order, please let me know by replying to this email, or calling me. If you get an invoice for an order that you had forgotten about and no longer need, again just please let me know and I will remove it from our system no questions asked. I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to continue offering such a high-quality product at a time when most things are mass-produced to be thrown away. Thank you for your understanding and continued patronage. Sincerely, Matt Davis |
